The modern-day visual age Essay One of the major influences of the modern-day visual age today was Eadweard J. Muybridge. He was truly a revolutionary thinker during his time and gave ideas that was fantastic and at the same time ingenious. A photographer with supreme skills, Helios, as his pseudonym, was an acclaimed landscape photographer showing the extravagance of the West. He singlehandedly created photographic icons of his era, a movement captured in time. Muybridge’s method of taking these moving photos involved chemical formulas for the processing of the photos and an electrical trigger that was designed by Muybridge himself. During his time, basic sequential photography was at the boundaries of technology and photography. Hence, Muybridge became a photographer and a motion picture inventor as well. He â€Å"froze† the movements by his way of capturing the photograph during the act of motion. Boxes, camels, elephants, all captured in time. Today this may not be a feat never heard of, but Muybridge’s ideas and technology evolved to what we know today as the cinema and television. Indeed a master of photography, he was able to pioneer motion capture of animal locomotion. Through his ideas of capturing motion with multiple cameras and using different cameras on different angles, he was able to start a revolution. Before I begin, I'd like to thank the person who made it possible for me to be here with you all today. President Bill Clinton. By scheduling his trip to Moscow just so, I had enough of a pause between my trips to Japan and Oklahoma city and Russia that it was possible to make it to Hartford today. I'd also like to thank John Boyer. Somehow he got it into his head that I like Twain -- which I do -- and that I might know something about him -- which I don't. At least I am honest about it. However, you may want to consider that Mark Twain and I share certain unshakable philosphical similarities. We both lived in Connecticut for a while. We both like to fish. We both like to play hooky. We both like cigars. But Mark Twain's wife allowed him to light his cigars. (You can only imagine the sort of career I might've had if my wife let me light my cigars.owever, like the President, I am only permitted to chew mine.) I'm not unaware that the giving of lectures on Mark Twain is more commonly the sphere of academics. To be enjoyed by other academics. Academics can ask questions such as, "Was Huck black?" To which the rest of us would merely reply, "No." Academics prefer debate over simple questions. Academics aren't like you and me. At least, they're not like me. Such things are way over my head. I am a proud graduate of Sam Houston State Teachers College Huntsville, Texas. While those of us who went there know it to be the Yale or UConn of our part of the world, we're perfectly well aware that most people this far north have never heard of the place. Sam Houston State has about as much ivy growing on it as your average Burger King or McDonald's. I say all these things to underscore one thing. There may be great experts on the work of Mark Twain -- perhaps there are several in this room. But very few if any such great experts are graduates of Sam Houston State Teachers College. And I am not such a one. It's with that understanding that I proceed today. I don't pretend any expertise in the works of Mark Twain. I tend not to interpret much. I enjoy. In preparing for my visit I did a lot of reading and re-reading, and I did a lot of laughing out loud.

Indians students in US facing cultural disconnect on campus Indians love to boast about the cultural diversity of their land, but it is not until they arrive at a US university that they encounter the real thing. All said and done, some things are the same wherever you go in India, and there are not that many surprises. But new Indian students who arrive in the US are never quite prepared for the cultural tidal wave that await them on campus. However, most of them overcome the culture shock eventually and come to love their campus lives, so much so that they suffer a â€Å"reverse culture shock† when they visit home. The initial months of adjustment are the most difficult for Indian students. Here we discuss some problem areas and how students find solutions. Communication The main difficulty that Indian students face on campus is how to interact with other international and American students and teachers. Genentech is no different either, leadership has adopted higher behavioral standards, which they call the Genentech Good Operating Principles (GGOPs), applied to their officers and employees, as well as to their directors in their activities on behalf of Genentech .by focusing on working environment and by leaving no gaps between leadership and employees they have created a unique enviro nment worker friendly and professional working environment where their employs basic needs are satisfied so they can concentrate on company development. Since then they are committed to the highest standards of behavior at Genentech (Genentech, 2006). Gene One?s corporate mission and values like Collaborate, Communicate and Be Accountable and commitment to the highest standards of behavior is lost, To resolve this in future Gene One?s leadership can start involving everybody needed in their board meetings so everybody is on the same page and release entire outcome in daily news line for company so their employees are not surprised by the outcome because all the employees knew their companies capability and believed in it and hence createhence of trust and worker friendly environment. Strategies for Managing the Group ProcessAs Gene One grows, it must develop strategies for managing the group process. In order to do so, it must take into consideration contingencies of organizational design: organizational size, technology, external environment, and organizational strategy. As the number of employees increase, ?job specialization increases due to greater division of labor,? while high levels of standardization take place to coordinate work, and a decentralized formal administrative hierarchy emerges (McShane Glinow, 2005). Standardization deals with establishing a common goals and timelines. A formal hierarchy establishes a chain of command to aid with a clear understanding of who is responsible what for what.
